Dobbins
Jan 13, 1925 — Dec 25, 2024
Bernard Leon Dobbins, 99, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. He was born on January 13, 1925, in Meadville, Pennsylvania to the late Richard L. and Emma E. Wright Dobbins.
A man of deep faith, Bernard graduated from Meadville High School and attended Jamestown Business College. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II from 1943-1946.
Following honorable discharge from the military, Bernard married the love of his life, Dolores, on April 23, 1947. Together, they raised three children during which Bernard worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He retired from the Jamestown Area Regional Transit as a bus driver where he remained a union member.
Bernard's life was guided by the Lord. Through every season, he remained steadfast to his Christian convictions. The congregation at North Main Street Church of God will deeply feel the loss of their most humble and faithful member.
Bernard will be deeply missed by his children, Kathleen (Raymond) Jackson of Maryland and Michael Dobbins (the late David Riemer) of Jamestown; grandchildren: Christopher (Melissa) Robinson, Brandon Jackson, and Bryan Jackson; great-grandchildren: Sonny Leeper, Gianna Stearns, Anthony Perez, Aniya Jackson, and Kaylee Jackson; sister, Elizabeth Musone; brothers, John Dobbins and Dale Dobbins; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Arline Robertson Dobbins in 2018; his daughter, Karen Dobbins; and nine siblings.
The funeral service for Bernard will be at 11:00am on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home. Together, Reverend Marian Battle and Reverend William Smith will officiate. Military honors will begin the service. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 10-11am on Saturday, January 18. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750.
