David L. Carpenter, 84, formerly of Allegany, NY and Bemus Point, NY, passed away at Heritage Green Skilled Nursing & Rehab Sunday September 15, 2024. He was born in Canton, OH on March 14, 1940 to the late Charles T. and Frances Belden.

David attained his B.S. and M.B.A. before achieving his PhD from Northern Illinois University. He was an experimental psychology professor at St. Bonaventure University for 34 years, researching visual perception before his retirement in 2005.

The outdoors combined with pushing physical limits were David's joys. He loved flying glider planes at Dart Airport in Mayville, NY for years. Moreover, he ran 50 marathons in his lifetime and was no stranger to the thrill of white-water rafting.

David leaves behind the love of his life, Maryeileen "Mimi" Lonett Carpenter, whom he married September 30, 1961; two daughters: Kelly Carpenter and Coleen Carpenter; and his dog, Lacee.

In keeping with David's wishes, no services or visitation will be observed.
