David P. Nelson, 72, of Dewittville, passed away Wednesday March 26, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie Pennsylvania.

He was born June 16, 1952, the son of the late Norbert and E. Carol Pope Nelson.

David was a 1972 graduate of Jamestown High School. following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy as a nuclear welder from 1972 to 1976.

Before his retirement he worked as a maintenance electrician for Bush Industries Inc. for several years.

David was a very handy man who built his home in Dewittville. He enjoyed working outside doing yard work and driving his tractor. Throughout the years David and his wife Carolyn travel the country camping in their RV trying new restaurants along the way and exploring multiple States. He also enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle and was a former member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association NY District. David was a lifetime member at both the American Legion Samuel L Derby Post 556 and AMVETS.

Surviving is his wife Carolyn Grimes Nelson whom he married November 3, 1979; his brother Brent (Carol) Nelson; his nieces Alicia Grimes and Alexandrea Traver, Amanda Worth, Melissa Olson, Charlize Curry; his nephews: Tristin Grimes, Sean Greene, William Curry and several cousins .

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles and a cousin.

The funeral will be held at 2 pm on Saturday April 5, 2025, in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received an hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 pm in the funeral home.
