Pocza
Nov 24, 1936 — Apr 18, 2025
Frank L. Pocza, 88, of Summit Park Drive, Bemus Point, died Friday April 18, 2025, in Warren General Hospital. He was born November 24, 1936, in Flint, MI, a son of the late Julius Pocza and Evelyn Courts.
Following graduation from high school he enlisted in the US Army. He made a career in the military serving from 1956-1980 including two tours in the 716th Military Police Battalion in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge from the service as Sergeant First Class he worked at BOCES as a conservation teacher assistant.
As a self-proclaimed "grumpy old vet", he cracked the occasional joke at your expense, but his smile lit up the room. He enjoyed his old country music records, collecting diecast cars, participating in the Mayville Annual Ice Castle, and his dogs Bailey and Lizzy.
Surviving are two sons Darrin Pocza of Bemus Point and Drew Pocza of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren Levi, Dominik, Gabrielle and a brother Richard Pocza of Flint, MI.
He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Swanson Pocza, whom he married January 19, 1966 and who died August 26, 2023 and a brother Thomas Pocza.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be made to the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department, and The Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department.
