Obituary

Jesus "Chu" Torres, born October 15th, 1941 and a native of Ponce, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Jesus was a former employee of Crawford's Furniture for over 50 years. Chu loved spending time with his family and friends. He was also a devoted member of the Jehovah's Witness congregation of Dunkirk, NY.

Chu was a gifted musician and could play any song he heard on his cuatro. He and his brothers enjoyed playing together. In his younger years, Chu was a member of the Puerto Rican Social Club and played for their slo-pitch softball team with his brothers and friends. He enjoyed watching Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune with his son Billy. Chu also looked forward to his trip back to his hometown every February.

Jesus was preceded in death by brothers Allejo, Cornelio, Baulidio and Felix, and a brother-in-law, Jose Correa; a sister, Antonia; his parents, Felix and Virginia; as well as his two children, Louie and Enoelia.

Chu is survived by brothers Domingo (Maria) and Pedro of Puerto Rico, Aristere (Lorraine) of Tennessee, Robert (Haydee) of Jamestown; sister Angela of Texas; and sister-in-law Adelaida of South Carolina. He is also survived by children Jorge "Billy", Franklin and Inelia Torres; grandkids Elisandra, Ana and Jorge (Angelica); great-grandkids Isaiah, Lillyanni, Angeliz and Alivianni; lifelong friend Vidal (Zoraida) Colon, and close family friends Howard Talbot and Geury Ramirez; and many nieces and nephews. But most importantly is his wife of 60 years, Ada Torres.

We will remember Jesus for the loving family man that he was. He had a big heart and would always help anyone that needed it.

Lastly, a special thank you to the brothers and sisters of his congregation for their support during this difficult time.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 29th in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Anciano Jose Melendez. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 970 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
