John Patrick Mescall, 69, of Celoron, passed away peacefully at home under the care of Hospice on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He was born in Jamestown on June 22, 1956, to the late John P. and Harriett Roos Mescall.

Following graduation from high school, John spent his working years at Niagara Therapy, Crawford Furniture in shipping & receiving as well as trucking, and at Sam's Club.

His love for the outdoors will be forever remembered by John's family. Being out in the woods, whether it was hunting or camping, brought John great joy. He also spent endless hours fishing.

Proud of his Irish heritage, John loved to talk, telling story after story. Albeit a firm guide for his children, he taught how to love unconditionally and remained fully present always.

A sports fan, John enjoyed watching many a football game.

John will be deeply missed by his wife, Janet, whom he married July 13, 1985; his sons, John Phillip Mescall and Jacob Mescall; his brothers, Dennis Mescall and Matt Mescall; his sisters, Johanna Klinker and Melissa Brown; his grandchildren and a great grandchild; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service for John will be at 11:00am on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Kerzee will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 10-11am Saturday, September 20 at Lind's.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750, or to Kidder Memorial Global Methodist Church, 381 S Main Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
