Rudy
Mitchell
Sep 23, 1960 — Jul 19, 2026
Rudy Mitchell, 65, of Jamestown, peacefully passed away in his home on Sunday, July 19, 2026. He was born in Irving, NY on September 23, 1960, to the late Minnie Mitchell.
A hard-working man to his core, Rudy was an employee of Blackstone until its closure and, before retirement, remained the head of maintenance at Holiday Inn hotel.
Grounded by old school ethics, Rudy never missed a day of work and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need.
The stubborn nature Rudy possessed was superseded by his humor, his smooth essence, and his embodiment of being a blast. He was a phenomenal provider for his family. Liked by all, he was truly a legend when you cracked through his stoic face and dipped into his kindness.
Rudy was a great musician, allowing his voice to resonate with so many people. A man of God, his church-going soul drove him to volunteer as a prison mentor.
Toys didn't stop at childhood for Rudy. He had a toy room, collecting every gas and battery-operated gadget one could find. On a grander toy level, Rudy savored time riding Harleys with his wife, Amy.
Nothing pleased Rudy more than being with his family. He adored his grandchildren and, following progressive heart and brain complications, his one grandson remained his idol, as he said, "Papa's hero."
Rudy's private but huge energy will be dearly missed by his wife, Amy Klein Mitchell; his children, Jennifer Mitchell, Keshia Quick, La'Shonda Moreland, Felicia Mitchell, Rudy Mitchell, Jr., Haven Klein, Islandah Mitchell, Jhaszmine Mitchell, and Constance Mitchell; countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his younger siblings, Reggie Thomas, Steven Thomas, Susan Thomas, Karl Thomas, and Jason Thomas; his especially close cousin, Richard Sikes; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families.
Besides his mother, Rudy was preceded in death by his stepfather, Eddie Thomas; his brothers, Stanley Thomas, Sr. and Rodney Thomas; his infant sister, Jennifer Thomas; his granddaughter, Dontazzia Grayson; and his great grandson.
In keeping with Rudy's wishes, no formal service or visitation will take place. His Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming months.
