Obituary

Stephany M. Williams, 92, of Brookdale, passed away August 22, 2024. She was born on April 12, 1932 in Patton, PA to Edwin Eugene and Daisy Commons Lacey.

A high school graduate, Stephany married Robert G. Williams on June 21, 1950, when her compassion for family then took hold. Raising four children was her life's beloved work, only surpassed by the room she made in her heart for her eight grandchildren in later years.

Stephany had a passion for everything and found endless opportunities to enjoy life. She, too, spread this light effervescence with all who entered her journey. There was not a thing that Stephany allowed to get her down; moreover, she never got cross and quickly bounced back from any hurdle.

Her beautiful zest might best be depicted through her steadfast pride in decorating her home's windows for every occasion. Stephany was looking ahead toward every celebration in preparation for diffusing communal happiness throughout her neighborhood, including decking her windows for the first day of school each year. Even at Brookdale did Stephany keep her tradition alive.

Stephany was a woman who could, and did, do anything. Her wealth of knowledge coined her as the woman everyone begged to have on their trivial pursuit team. She completed New York Times crossword puzzles with ease, knitted sweaters and blankets for her family, and took painting classes to hone her skills. Reading was a constant love for Stephany. She would devour books and jigsaw puzzles at impressively rapid rates.

Stephany and her husband belonged to Camp Street United Methodist, where she was active in the UMW for many years, served as a lay pastor, and sang in the choir. They also migrated to Wiltsie Community Church in recent decades.

Assuredly, Stephany will be remembered for her acceptance of everyone just as they were. She was a vivacious member to each community of people in which she was associated. Being with others was her delight, stemming from her lifelong love for family all the way down to cherishing her Brookdale community in the last few years.

Stephany will be lovingly remembered by her children: David (Rev. Robin Craig) Williams of Cleveland Heights, OH; Joy Williams (Gerard LeDoux) of Providence, RI; Robert (Jan) Williams of Jamestown; and Karen Williams (Robert Andrews) of Bemus Point; grandchildren: Matthew (Sarah Yussuf) Williams; Marissa (Patrick Roddy) Williams; Jennifer (Christopher) John; Rachel (Christopher) Conti; Robert (Tress) Williams; JT (Naomi Liebson) Andrews; and Lacey Andrews (Mitch Markowitz); great grandchildren: Alyasa Abdullahi; Amaya Williams-Yussuf; Robbie Williams; Madison, Evan, and Jackson John; Sydney and Avery Conti; Calvin, Jonas, and Sage Williams; her sister- and brother-in-law Sylvia and Bob Volk; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Stephany was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2010 and her grandson, Joshua Williams.

The funeral for Stephany will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1:00pm at Lind's. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service from 11-1pm Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
